Thoughts and Prayers out to S Eric Berry

The news breaking out of Kansas City right now is just devastating. All Pro safety and former 5th overall draft choice Eric Berry has been placed on the non-football injury list with what looks to be a Lymphoma diagnosis at the young age of 25.

According to Adam Schefter's report on ESPN.com Berry started to complain about chest pains on the final drive of the Thursday Night Football game against the Raiders. You can read the rest of the details on their site, as I am not a professional writer nor do I have the information that they have.

Just wanted to comment on how shitty this is. Sometimes it can be easy to forget that these teams and these players you are cheering for are real people with real life problems. I can sit here and scream at my television and say things like "I hate Sam Shields" and "AJ Hawk is a useless piece of fucking shit" but really the way they perform on the field doesn't really say all that much about them as people. It's also easy to think about all the assholes and monsters that some of these professional athletes can be, particularly this year in the NFL. Many people look at this league and think it is a bunch of savages. Eric Berry has been a class act on and off the field since he has came into this league. Throw all the stats away, Eric Berry is a true role model that everyone can seriously look up to. All the way up to the way that he has addressed this situation to his team and the media. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his friends and family, and the entire Chiefs organization.

Without trying to bring humor to this situation, here is the absolute best video of Berry, and his fear of horses. Despite the lack of courage shown here, it certainly seems that Eric is ready to battle in this brave fight against a shitty disease. Fuck cancer.
